The best Assassin's Creed of the main saga

The Assassin's Creed saga is one of today's great jewels, perhaps not because of the franchise as a whole, but because of the excellent titles, it has given us. And it is that exploring Venice, Damascus, Egypt or the Caribbean is impressive, and more so with an interesting story and pleasant gameplay like that of the Assassin's Creed saga.

At Liga de Gamers we wanted to put together a list of the best Assassin's Creed from the main saga. For this, we have gathered all the games that make up the mainline, without counting the spin-offs, and we have ordered them according to their quality in history, playable mechanics, and characters, among other details. For now, there are 11 who are part of this line. Find out which ones we consider the best!

1. Assassin's Creed II

1 Assassin's Creed II - Mejores Assassins Creed

Platforms: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC.

Assassin's Creed II was able to take the idea of the first installment and perfect it in many areas. While Assassin's Creed presented us with a rather striking concept, this second part was able to mature the idea and give it a complete form. It's a very solid stealth action-adventure game with good game mechanics and it was the first one that let us do missions whenever we wanted.

This title takes us to the Italian Renaissance and tells us about the first part of Ezio's life, who witnesses the execution of his own family. We see him grow up as a new assassin of The Brotherhood and we meet important people like Leonardo da Vinci himself. We explore important places like Venice, and the truth is that each place is perfectly differentiated and represented.

Finding each target and culprit behind the deaths of Ezio's relatives is intense, as you gradually unmask a larger plan. The rhythm of the plot, the gameplay, the characters, the recreation and setting, everything is taken care of down to the smallest detailFor this reason, Assassin's Creed II stands out as the best, both for veterans and newcomers to the saga.

One thing must be said: Ezio Auditore da Firenze is one of the best characters in the Assassin's Creed franchise, if not the best, and the way we see him grow is simply sublime.

2. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

2 Assassin's Creed Brotherhood - Mejores Assassins Creed

Platforms: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC.

Also known in Spanish as Assassin's Creed: La Hermandad, this installment took great advantage of the fundamentals of II. In several Assassin's Creed lists you can see this one above its predecessor, which is understandable! Both are excellent games, although Brotherhood is generally less emotional and interesting story-wise.

On this occasion, the setting is Rome, another city that also has impressive recreation. It is a pleasant environment to explore and through which to discover catacombs or secrets scattered around the map. Ezio is forced to finish what he started in Assassin's Creed II and, to do so, he will be helped by numerous allies.

Not only will Leonardo da Vinci support us once again, but this installment includes a very interesting new system. In addition to improving the village and expanding your territory of influence, it is possible to recruit other assassins throughout the game. You can ask them for help on missions or send them to do specific tasks. You will feel part of something bigger!

Lastly, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood added a multiplayer mode for the first timeIt was a success because it had its variety and gave more hours of play to the title.

3. Assassin's Creed Origins

3 Assassin's Creed Origins - Mejores Assassins Creed

Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4.

The saga took a break before continuing with Assassin's Creed Origins, and the truth is that it suited him very well! This video game is a breath of fresh air for the franchise, with notable changes in various aspects but without losing the main essence. Moving away from European and American territories, the game takes us to Ancient Egypt and features one of the largest maps in the series.

We put ourselves in the shoes of Bayek, a Medjay who has sworn to protect the people of Egypt. After the death of his son, he decides to kill a group of masked men who are oppressing the country. In turn, Bayek is recruited by Cleopatra, as she seeks to retake her throne and get Ptolemy out of there. With this premise, comes the origin of the Order of Assassins!

Assassin's Creed Origins manages to expand the proposal of the saga with RPG touches. There is a huge map to explore, with many secrets and missions to complete. The gameplay is smoother than ever and it's a joy to watch the plot progress as you take out important targets one by one. If the game ends up capturing you, even after dozens of hours it won't be long before you know it!

The two most important points of this game are the freedom it gives us and the connection it has with the rest of the saga, as it functions as a prequel to everythingOh well, exploring each of the pyramids and tombs of the pharaohs isn't too bad either!

4. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

4 Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag - Mejores Assassins Creed

Platforms: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, Wii U, Nintendo Switch.

Black Flag is part of the so-called "Colonial America trilogy" and serves as a prequel. It's not considered a typical Assassin's Creed because, in fact, you'll mainly be a pirate and not an assassin like the saga has accustomed us to. In this game, we are Edward Kenway, who is caught between the affairs of the Order of Assassins and the Templars.

This Assassin's Creed focuses a lot on the naval part. Much of the game is spent sailing the Caribbean seas as a true pirate, looking for treasures, and trying to establish the Pirate Republic. Little by little, the conflicts on different sides hinder the ideal of Edward Kenway, which leads us to face the British, Spanish, and French empires!

Due to the importance of battles between ships, an important part of the game is knowing how to manage your ship and hunt down other ships. It doesn't detract from the on-foot gameplay; what's more, it adds a lot to the Black Flag experience. It is a complete title since it not only takes the basis of what the saga has built up to then but also expands it with new playable elements.

In short, it's not a 100% Assassin's Creed game, but it does maintain quite a few connections and, by itself, it's a most excellent game. For everyone who likes the Caribbean setting and the pirate theme, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is a must.

5. Assassin's Creed: Syndicate

5 Assassin's Creed Syndicate - Mejores Assassins Creed

Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4.

We close the Top 5 with Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, the last title that was released before the break in the saga. And it must be said that, although it does not reach the heights of quality of Assassin's Creed II or IV, it knew what made the franchise great and presented it in an almost impeccable way.

We venture into London in its Victorian-era and play as the murderous twins Jacob and Evie Frye. This game is a well-mixed cocktail of interesting characters, an engaging plot, excellent gameplay, and a powerful visual aspect. The best of all? The target tracking system has been improved, so it's not frustrating anymore!

The setting, although it is already widely seen due to other games and movies, is impeccable and makes you want to know more about the time. The freedom and non-linear development of the missions allow us to give ourselves more freedom to play the game in our own way. There are also quite a few things to do, but Syndicate stands on its own just for the main story.

The funny thing is that we know characters like Charles Dickens, Charles Darwin or Karl Marx. Who would have thought that we would see them in an assassin game?

6. Assassin's Creed Odyssey

6 Assassin's Creed Odyssey - Mejores Assassins Creed

Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is the second game that was made after the break in the saga. It takes us to Ancient Greece, at the time of the Peloponnesian WarsTherefore, it is located in an even more distant past than Origins. Just as Black Flag did at the time, Odyssey takes the base of its predecessor and adds a greater naval component to the playable section.

This installment, even being a good game, suffers from the phrase "who covers a lot, squeezes little". Several features of Odyssey are great, there's no denying that, but it feels lacking in character and somewhat disconnected from the rest of the series. Despite this, the game is very enjoyable, especially if one likes this type of setting and time.

For Assassin's Creed Odyssey, the action component takes center stage over stealth. There are numerous weapons to get, abilities and special attacks to get rid of the enemies. In addition, we can choose to play between Alexios or Kassandra, two brothers who will have the mission of ending a cult apparently related to the Templars.

Despite being a game that lacks depth, it cannot be denied that it is the game that offers the most hours of content. If you like it, take advantage!

7. Assassin's Creed: Revelations

7 Assassin's Creed Revelations - Mejores Assassins Creed

Platforms: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC.

We continue the list with the conclusion of the Ezio Auditore trilogyAssassin's Creed: Revelations works great as such if we refer to the story but, unfortunately, in the gameplay it takes an unwanted turn. It does not know how to sustain itself as a good delivery, although in our opinion it does not end up being one of the worst either.

We see an older Ezio, already fully versed in his craft. In the third part of the trilogy, he drinks heavily from Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood. At the same time, he introduces novel mechanics such as the creation of explosives and traps, and the Eagle Sense, extra help to get ahead of enemy movements.

The game can be enjoyed from start to finish. The problem is that there are some very repetitive, tiresome, and uninspired territory defense phases. Added to that, the main city of the game, Constantinople, is not that attractive compared to many other environments in the series. If you're passionate about Ezio's story, it's worth it. Other than that, it's not the best of Assassin's Creed!

8. Assassin's Creed

8 Assassin's Creed - Mejores Assassins Creed

Platforms : PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC.

The announcement of the first Assassin's Creed took all gamers by surprise. It was presented as a very interesting idea that invited us to immerse ourselves in the adventure of the assassin Altaïr. At the moment of truth, although it was good in several sections, the final result was hampered by a lack of options and a repetitiveness that many did not like.

Still, exploring the cities of DamascusAcre, and Jerusalem was a blast and still is to this day. The plot, although it took time to get interesting, culminating in an impressive final stretch that closed the story with a flourish. The feeling of chasing down targets, taking them out, and then being the one being chased is priceless.

This Assassin's Creed is not the best of the saga at all, but it laid good foundations to give us future installments, some of which are the most brilliant. And you have to admit that Altaïr is a good character!

9. Assassin's Creed III

9 Assassin's Creed III - Mejores Assassins Creed

Platforms: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, Wii U, Nintendo Switch.

Assassin's Creed III was the first game in the Colonial America trilogy. It is set during the American Revolutionary War, a historical setting of notable importance but one that is wasted in this game. We put ourselves in the shoes of Haytham Kenway and his son Connor, who are directly related to Edward Kenway from Black Flag.

It presents us with a different environment, more inclined to wild environments, and tells how Connor discovers the true intentions of the Templars at this particular time. In a way, Assassin's Creed III introduces improvements in animation and combat, as well as having a good assortment of secondary missions spread throughout colonial Boston and New York. And he was the first to introduce sea battles!

However, Assassin's Creed III has several problems. On the one hand, the first act is quite long and seems unattractive. It was also one of the games that suffered from numerous bugs, but it is possible to enjoy the game without too much trouble. Despite the interesting context, it is sparing in personality and depth. As we said, a missed opportunity!

10. Assassin's Creed: Rogue

10 Assassin's Creed Rogue - Mejores Assassins Creed

Platforms: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch.

After the excellent Black Flag, came a slightly decaffeinated Rogue. It is the last installment of Colonial America and serves as a bridge between Black Flag and Assassin's Creed III. For the first time in the saga, this game gives us the opportunity to play as a Templar for most of the game.

The game isn't that bad, but it totally lives in the shadow of Black Flag. Despite having come out later, it is less polished than its predecessor, with a less compelling story and a lesser caliber protagonist. The setting, despite the fact that exploring the North Atlantic arouses curiosity, does not have the same hook as the big cities in the saga.

The story also seems to take a little pause to give us the opposite point of view from the rest of the franchise. Even with that innovative element, the idea doesn't quite catch on and reaches a point where it's easy to lose interest. If you're a big fan of Assassin's Creed, you'll probably like it, but it's not a recommended game for those new to the saga.

11. Assassin's Creed: Unity

11 Assassin's Creed Unity - Mejores Assassins Creed

Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4.

And we're done with Unity! If we only talk about the setting, the work to represent the time of the French Revolution is praiseworthy. The problem is that, in our opinion, its virtues end there.

On the one hand, the graphic section is good but it falls to the ground when those terrifying errors of floating eyes and mouths appear. On the other hand, the game, in general, suffers from annoying bugs that can even annoy ongoing missions. It is clear that there was a lack of work time and that he did not take time to polish all aspects of Assassin's Creed: Unity.

The story is not spared either. As we mentioned at the beginning, the setting and context work is good, but that's where it stays. The characters, whether they are the protagonist, allies, or enemies, hardly attract attention, and the premise for the plot feels somewhat repetitive at this point in the saga. A tremendous potential that did not know how to take off!
