Minecraft: how to change skin with 2 quick and easy ways
12 Mar, 2022
In Minecraft, we can use two basic skins, which are Steve and Alex. We all want to be other characters, like a famous movie star or a superhero. The good news is that we can do it! In this article, we show you not one, but two ways to change your appearance in Minecraft.
Both cases work for any version of the game you have on your PC. They are two very easy, fast, and 100% reliable ways that, as an extra positive point, will not damage your save files. It's time to be another character in Minecraft!
1. Add a skin downloaded from the Internet
This is the most fun and surely the best method for every Minecraft player. You can search for a skin on the Internet and put it as your own in the game. To do this, there are several web pages dedicated to collecting appearances. One of the most complete is Skins 4 Minecraft.
The first thing you need to do is download the skin. It is an image in PNG format, otherwise, it will not work well. When you download it, the image will look warped, but that's normal. To use this image as a skin, you will need to install it.
Go to the official Minecraft page and log in with your account. Go to your profile and click on the Appearance button. There you will enter the page menu where you can change and update the appearance. You just have to find where you downloaded the image on your PC, hit "Upload", and you're ready to go!
Of course, it's a good idea to check to make sure the process worked. Enter the game, log in with your account and once you are in a game, press the F5 button and see how your character looks. If all went well, you will have new skin!
2. Activate a skin of the game itself
The creators of Minecraft have made a selection of skins that they added to the game itself. They are easy to access and activate to change your appearance. It is only enough to enter the menu to change aspects, within the same game. To go there, click on the clothes hanger icon on the main game screen, under your avatar.
It will take you to another screen where you will find dozens of skins. They are all divided into types, such as zombies or emojis. Unfortunately, not all of them are free, so it's not the best option. All skins marked with a white lock must be purchased to use.
If among all these skins you see one that interests you and it is unlocked, you just have to select it, confirm, return to the initial screen and start the game. As you can see, this method is quite simple.
Finally, the developers added a feature in one of the 2018 updates. As of today, you can further customize characters with hats and add more clothes to skin. That gives us more freedom to have a unique character, something that wasn't possible before!
